Events happening right now in Washington, D.C. have a real impact on you and your credit union. A law passed in the last Congress could make it more expensive to use your debit card, just to give a multi-billion dollar windfall to large national retailers.
Your credit union opposed these changes. We feel this law ultimately passes on large retailer’s fair share of the costs of accepting credit union debit cards directly onto you, our member. As a result of the new law, credit unions like ours could be forced into charging new fees for debit card holders, eliminating free checking accounts, or even raising rates for bounced transactions.
We don’t want to make those kinds changes, all of which hurt people in our community who are working hard to make every penny count. In our opinion, it’s simply not fair to you to pay for retailers cost of doing business.
Now, a new Congress may consider a “fix” to this problem, and you can help by supporting your credit union! Visit www.CUVoice.com to learn more!
